And the Chompion is...Do Drop Inn!
What people tell us about Downtown Madness
Pueblo Downtown Association
It was our pleasure to have participated in the March Madness Restaurant Competition sponsored by the Pueblo Downtown Association. We are from Pueblo but left after our retirement in 2011 to travel for a few years. When we returned to Pueblo this year, we noticed that there were a number of restaurants that we wanted to try and of course revisit our old favorites. So we took the challenge and visited all 16 restaurants in the Downtown Madness contest.
The experience was both fun and rewarding. There is really great food in Pueblo and restaurants that we may not have chosen if it were not for the list participating in the madness. We set out knowing five restaurants that we felt sure we would still enjoy from our past experiences. To our surprise we added six more that we will definitely call our new favorites. The variety of food and menu choices was also a plus.
One day by chance while visiting a new restaurant for lunch, we had the opportunity to visit with a professional soccer player that we have been a fan of for years. Another good reason to get out and explore Pueblo again.
A special thank you to all the participating restaurants for their welcoming and friendly competitive commitment. The conversations with the owners, managers, and employees were fun and uplifting as they encouraged our vote and talked about their restaurant. We are looking forward to the 2018 challenge.
The only downside is that we enjoyed ourselves so much that we now have 5 pounds to lose.

Webmaster's note: The 2017 competition ended April 10th.
Bracket-style Restaurant Competition
Sixteen Pueblo restaurants competed in this year's bracket-style contest, striving to win the traveling trophy which
would certify them as the winner of our Pueblo Downtown Association Downtown Madness restaurant competition.
We appreciate the good-natured businesses who participated, their staff members who helped make the event a
success and the diners who visited the restaurants and voted for their favorites.
The participating restaurants for 2017 were: Angelo's Pizza-Riverwalk, Brues Alehouse, DC's on B Street,
Do Drop Inn (Santa Fe Ave.), Franco's Bistro, Gray's Coors Tavern, Hanging Tree Café, Magpies Restaurant,
Mr. Tandoori, Nacho's Restaurant, Paisano's Restaurant, Papa Jose's Restaurant, Shamrock Brewing Co.,
Suehiro Restaurant, The Place Eatery and Willie's Pit BBQ. Voting ended on April 10th.
Watch for next year's Downtown Madness Restaurant Competition.
